Hello to Grabity supporters😃

Recently, we had an interview with CROSSWAVE! The interview was basicly about Grabity and the project. Here are the details:

Grabity was posted on the front page of IT Blockchain Professional Media “CROSSWAVE”

  • Background of Grabity
  • The problem that we want to solve and the solution
  • The future of Grabity, and the world we want to make

These aspects were covered by reporter Sua Im

<Grabity Background>

Grabity CEO Jangwon Lim dreamed of becoming a researcher and scientist after graduating head of department of Biotechnology and Computer Science at Indiana State University, USA, and took part in Blockchain with the development of DApp (Decentralized Application) in 2017, but soon faced and realized the technical limitations of Blockchain.

CEO Jangwon Lim: “If you compare Blockchain to the current Internet technology, it is at the level of modem service. It is just like rolling a high-spec game with a modem or editing a 4K video. I wanted to reach beyond the technical limitations of the Blockchain platform.”

<The problem that we want to solve, and the solution>

  1. It is a long-standing task for companies to cover huge server costs of hundreds of millions of won. It is essential for server operation to include cost from building a server room for communication rooms and server equipment, managing the network, building expensive infrastructure, and maintaining space and equipment.
  • But what would happen if multiple network participants distribute and provide the information and computing resources needed to run the existing server?
  • By sharing the idle resources of digital devices of smartphones, labtops, and PCs, anyone can participate in building public Blockchain and receive reward by cryptocurrency, and seek to transform the Internet Paradigm
  • Instead of running the server at a high cost, users can use their device as a node to enter the ecosystem and use the web or applications without paying fees from watching ads or purchasing items.

CMO HoEun Jeon: “To make an example of; instead of a teacher trying to mark and check the exam paper of a whole class (centralized server), it can be more effective for all the students to share and check each other’s exam papers (decentralized server). As the number of students increase, the number of people that share and check increases. Therefore, the cost and technical limitations to what one person had and can do would be solved.

2. As the current Blockchain structure escalates over time, the size of distributed ledger on each node increases equally, which reduces the efficiency of the entire network. In addition, the sequential transaction processing structure causes a problem of scalability due to the limitation of the processing speed.

In the case of earning rewards from existing mining companies or mining equipment, there is a problem with wasting extreme amount of resources and there is no utilization of DApp that a participant can immediately use with the reward.

-> In contrast, the Grabity ecosystem solves scalability issues through contributing to the transaction processing of the application with the storage space and the CPU that are left in the device by many participants, and the participant can use the virtual money (cryptocurrency) to buy items from the application.

HoEun Jeon, CMO, said, “From the user’s point of view, users receive rewards through ‘participating’ or ‘contributing’ because they utilize the actual resources.”

<Grabity’s technology>

Grabity plans to release Toolkit and Software Development Kit (SDK) as the final step in the road-map mentioned earlier to form a broader development ecosystem. App developers can create new dashboards using the SDK and convert existing apps to dashboards without major risks.

This allows developers to easily apply the Blockchain token economy to their existing apps and extend further into global services while reducing server costs as well. The user can receive rewards by using the same app that was used in the past.

CEO Jangwon Lim: Unlike the existing centralized system of data ownership by the company, Grabity does not have to operate the server and be thankful to people who download the application and participate in the ecosystem.

As platform coins, such as Ethereum and EOS, Grabity explained that it becomes competitive to each constituent, such as node, DApp, platform, in contribute to the ecosystem based on the token economy.

CEO Jangwon Lim: When users buy and sell items with tokens that were rewarded through participation, the value of the tokens will rise and people will be able to make money with it, so users will be more loyal to the application and will focus on raising the application’s value.

He also expressed his desire to move to a standardized protocol that people can use as, like TCP/IP (Internet Standard Protocol), and WWW (World Wide Web).

CEO Jangwon Lim: “Global Internet technology built on a proprietary protocol called TCP / IP was developed in the 1960s and commercialized in the 1990s. Bitcoin has been around for 10 years. As technology develops, ‘trust’ should increase, so it can become a platform that can resolve scalability with a public Blockchain and commercialize it in real life.
