Oh, hello. My name is Jonas Ellison. I’m the one who shares things here on Grace Incarnate, my one-man labor of love.
Grace Incarnate was my daily publication for many years under various titles. I posted here pretty much every day for five years and it grew to be the most followed single-author publication on Medium when the platform was new and Medium was promoting small indie authors like me.
In late 2019, I moved my daily postings to my private newsletter and community — Table Talk (hosted on Substack.com). Since Medium has become a place for longer-form writing by bigger-name people, I didn’t feel like my short, informal, and often whimsical daily ramblings fit in here.
Today, this publication serves as a curated selection of Christ-centric longer-form essays and sermon-like pieces that are more suitable to the Medium platform. I post them first over at Table Talk and then, about a month later, I share them here.
What’s With the Name?
Grace Incarnate was the name of the very first class that I took in seminary. It was a systematic theology class taught by one of my most beloved professors, Dr. Kurt Hendel, who assigned the name to his class years ago. Immediately, I fell in love with the name. Grace Incarnate (à la: Jesus the Christ; God having slipped into flesh as a divine act of solidarity, love, and mercy).
I begged Dr. Hendel’s permission to name this publication after his class and he gracefully said yes.
So, Now What?
If you’d like to subscribe via email to my shorter daily notes and devotionals, you can do that right here and never miss a thing. Or, you can just follow this publication here on Medium. You can also join my Patreon community. Depending on your level of patronage, you’ll get exclusive early access to other goodies over there.
Either way, I’m so glad you’re here.
Grace & Godspeed,
