Gracious Gratitude

Day 1001

From the Earth

I’m a triple earth sign: sun sign Taurus with both my moon and ascending sign in Virgo.

Some of you are now nodding sagely. “Ah, yes. Of course.”

Others of you just glazed over and the phrase “What the f*ck does that mean?” likely slipped through your consciousness.

I’ll skip the astrological framework that sets for me as the reference for today’s purpose is quite specific. I’m deeply fond of anything that connects me literally to the earth and nature — hiking, mountain biking, and lately I’ve added gardening.

For years I fancied myself she of the black thumb. Any plant (flowering or otherwise) entering my home may well have had a death sentence.

Turns out that’s not true.

After a few fits and starts (there was a sad incident with some sage a few years back), this year my garden is really doing well. There’s a sense of pride of course, but it’s countered immediately with a deep awe and respect for nature. After all, it’s nature that grows em, I just have to tend them well.

My morning meditation each day is spent while watering my garden and there’s something so literally grounding about being engaged with it that way.

Thanks Mother Nature.

Today’s Gracious Gratitude. I am grateful for:

  • My garden
  • That I will get to eat something that I grew myself
  • My dogs
  • Spending time at my office alone
  • Workout
  • My family
