Day 380
Discovery
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
— Marcel Proust
And so the day goes. Ending of a week that attempted on more than one occasion to have its way with me. Sometimes the week won. Mostly, I did. Today marks one month since Truman’s passing. I could wax on about that, and there is still so much to say — about the experience, about grief, about healing, about Truman and most of all about what I am learning about me and course correction.
But not today.
That quote resonates for me partly because of its truth and partly because I had the distinct joy to spend a few hours with a new friend, Melissa Kaiser, the relatively newly minted CEO of the Children’s Discovery Museum. You know how I love wide-ranging conversations with deeply passionate, thoughtful and inspiring people. Welcome to my Friday afternoon. What a deeply perfect way to end the week … a week of discovery.

Today’s Gracious Gratitude. I am grateful for:
- Chocolate chip, date, walnut cookies that are gluten free and vegan and still soooooo yummy
- Knocking three BIG to-do’s from my list that weren’t difficult or complex but just a pain in the ass
- When the doctor tells me that they aren’t worried
- Getting news that my mom is doing well
- My dogs
- Realizing that I get the opportunity for my first big Board retreat for a non profit tomorrow
- Stepping into a bit commitment that feels like returning home
- Securing some of the final bits and bobs I need to finish my home studio
- Weekends, even when I’m working
- Honesty
