This article talks about climate change and the effects that it is having on all of America’s National Parks. It talks primarily about glaciers and how much they are losing and calving on a yearly basis.

I would use this article during a science lesson about the effects of global warming and climate change. This would be a perfect real world example of something that might not be too easy for my students to understand. It would also open up a discussion about the effects that humans have had on nature, as well as if it is too late for us to change our ways and stop climate change from destroying so many historic places and landmarks.

Some student misconceptions that would arise through the reading of this article would be that we can’t stop climate change or global warming, or that humans have nothing to do with these two events. Both of which are incorrect. Humans as a species have played a huge role in the rise of “global warming” and the effects that it has had on the Earth. Also, we can very easily cut down on the amount of change we cause to the environment. This is a discussion that has been going on for decades, and is one that I don’t see stopping anytime soon. But, these two misconceptions can very easily throw off my students’ point of view on the subject of global warming.

This other article ties in very nicely with the main article that I found. It talks about another area on the planet that is affected by climate change, and the impact that it has on the ever-changing landscape of the Earth.
