Summary:

This article is about the gun control in Missoula may be expanding under an emergency amendment. This will allow the carrying of guns in some public places. They want this to be approved before the 6 midterm election in November. Many of the polling places are in schools so they want protection over the children.

Lesson:

I would teach this to an eighth grade government class. I would have the students journal their thoughts on the topic and keep their opinions and thoughts to themsleves so that it didnt turn the classroom into a debate. I would like to see what the students thoughts are and see their explanation and how they back them up.

Strategy:

I would use the journaling so that the students feel like they can write down their opinions and thoughts without being judged from the other students. Its just a quick minute to express their thoughts.
