My Five Senses

This article is about the five senses which are touch, taste, sound, smell and sight. Students are using all of these senses every day during their lives unless there is a reason they might not have one of these senses. I would want to teach the five senses to a kindergarten group setting because they are doing these things regularly but they do not know that they are considered senses. To assess my students I would just have them do a turn and talk and have a group discussion with them. Do they know what senses are? How do they use them every day? We could have the students demonstrate how they might use these senses by touching their toes, singing, smelling flowers and maybe finding an item in their classroom. This would fall under the Understanding the American Experience. The students would be able to try these senses out in the classroom and when they go home. The students could go to their homes and write down these senses and come to school the next day and have a conversation with their peers about how they used their senses when they were at home.
