This article is model of NBA players rationale when they are playing in game from the decision to either pass or shoot. The efficiency of their choice was there a higher success when this player passed or when they shot. It also takes in to account being fouled on a shot and the free throw percentage of making it. This is important because it helps relate looking at graphs and modeling techniques to the general public. It makes it more interesting for the students that are interested in sports specifically basketball.

Who has a higher rationale Kobe Bryant or Lebron James?

What is the significance of knowing a persons rationale habits?

Who has the highest rationale?

The grand challenges that this would pertain to would be Understanding the American Experience. It would relate to this one because a part of today’s American experience could involve professional or even college basketball. It is better to have a complete or a better understanding of why they are taking that shot or if they should be taking it all.

Montana Mathematics Content Standards for Mathematical Practice: Grades 9–12 Explanations and Examples: HS.MP.4. Model with High school students can apply the mathematics they know to solve problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace. mathematics. By high school, a student might use geometry to solve a design problem or use a function to describe how one quantity of interest depends on another. High school students making assumptions and approximations to simplify a complicated situation, realizing that these may need revision later. They are able to identify important quantities in a practical situation and map their relationships using such tools as diagrams, two-way tables, graphs, flowcharts and formulas. They can analyze those relationships mathematically to draw conclusions. They routinely interpret their mathematical results in the context of the situation and reflect on whether the results make sense, possibly improving the model if it has not served its purpose.

Students are expected The Standards for Mathematical Practice describe ways in which students ought to engage with the subject matter as they grow in to: mathematical maturity and expertise.

The technique that I chose would be modeling comprehension I chose this technique because it is better to understand mathematical language and graphs before doing the modeling themselves. Teacher will have sections of the article that summarize some of the main points, equations, and graphs that describe the information best in the article. Talk with students about the sections that were already chosen in detail. Explaining all of the inserts in great detail taking any questions that the students have. Split the students up and have them talk among themselves about each of the graphs and equations having them write down notes of the main points of them. The teacher will pair the students up with students that work well together. This would show if they were interested in modeling and in basketball. Which would pertain to some of their personal lives, would give the teacher an idea who likes sports and who doesn’t.
