The Curse of the Mummy

The article chosen discusses the finding of a sphinx, but through the curse of the mummy, archaeologists are worried that lush farmlands using irrigation are slowly breaking down structures of historical significance and with the climate change happening, areas that were once desserts are now irrigated farmlands. With the changing of land such historical findings are being destroyed due to higher salinity and being water logged. While this article discusses several different things, I took these three misconceptions out of it:

  • Students may not know what climate change is.
  • Understanding how significant this discovery is and how to protect those items.
  • How is it that climate change affects the sphinx and other items so bad?

The strategy I have chosen for this activity is Audio/Video Recordings. By using the video/audio recordings, it will allow students to talk freely through a microphone or on a video recorder. I think that sometimes having students write what their thoughts are on the topic can become monotonous for them so allowing to them to freely talk is a great way to gain an understanding of what students are understanding and are constant and what I need to better prepare for in the future.
