What’s the buzz around the Granify office most mornings lately? The Oilers game the night before.

Since the playoffs started, not only has it united the city of Edmonton, but the Granify office too! The talk around the office — by the water cooler, at the lunch table, around our desks — centres around the Oilers (even for non-hockey fans!). Discussions are always going on about how the game went, predictions for the next game, and just how awesome it is to be in the playoffs again!

This excitement means so much more than just hockey though. The vested interest from the entire office makes for great collaboration, getting to know our colleagues, and most importantly: feeling united. Like any great relationship, finding common interests in the office can mean so much to building the team and company culture. Since we spend the majority of our day with the people we work with, shouldn’t we feel like we know them and share a common bond? Working with people you know and trust creates better productivity and brings more joy into the workplace, you actually look forward to seeing your colleagues everyday!

So even if the Oilers don’t make it past round 2, the bond that was created from the run will last beyond the playoffs.
