KOSMOS Berlin— GraphQL Conf’s new venue

GraphQL Conf is fast approaching and we are delighted to announce the speakers! Since we opened the GraphQL Conf CFP, we were blown away by the variety of amazing talks and presentations.

Narrowing down the choices was not easy, but we are thrilled to finally share the amazing line up and give a preview of some of the talks you’ll see in June! Find the full schedule on the GraphQL Conf website!

The world’s largest GraphQL community conference

This year’s GraphQL Conf will be the biggest one so far with a brand new venue and spanning two days!

  • Location: KOSMOS Berlin (Website | Map)
  • Date: June 20, 21st (Thursday and Friday)

On June 19, the day before GraphQL Conf, Prisma will be hosting Prisma Day! The one-day event covers modern app development, databases, and Prisma in production. GraphQL Conf + Prisma Day combo tickets are also available!

World class speakers from GitHub, Twitter & more

With a greater number of companies and users running GraphQL, the review committee focused selection on trying to find a balance between immediately applicable talks and those that showcased the more specific uses of GraphQL.

As a sneak peak for the event, here are just some of the great speakers and film you can expect! (Or read through the full schedule!)

Title: So you Want to Distribute your GraphQL Schema?

Speaker: Marc-Andre Giroux (Senior Platform Engineer at GitHub)

We’ve been hearing a lot on GraphQL being an amazing tool to enable distribution of services and APIs. Schema stitching, API Gateways, namespaces, schema modules; Are we on the right track? Let’s take a deep look at the role of GraphQL in a distributed architecture.

Title: 200 OK! Error Handling in GraphQL

Speaker: Sasha Solomon (Software Engineer at Twitter)

We all know what happens in GraphQL when things are going well, but what happens when things don’t go so well? How do you handle errors in GraphQL? What is an error? Find out how not all “errors” are errors, how we can have a better understanding of our data, and how to model domain errors in our GraphQL schema.

Title: Compiling GraphQL to be Blazing Fast

Speaker: Rui Araujo (Engineering Lead at Zalando)

Migration is a challenge the vibrant GraphQL community constantly faces. At Facebook, the GraphQL server team and Relay team each carried out a massive migration independently. We distill the lessons we learned in both migrations into principles and practices to share with the community.

Title: Making design more human with GraphQL

Speaker: Bernardo Raposo (Software Engineer at TravelRepublic)

At first sight, design and GraphQL might seem completely unrelated, but can we use it to make design accessible to everyone?

In this talk we’ll see how GraphQL has the power to revolutionise the way designers, engineers and managers communicate.

You’ll have to query it to believe it!

The Documentary on GraphQL will premiere this year at GraphQL Conf!

The film tells the story of how the invention of GraphQL saved the failing Facebook iOS strategy in the face of crisis during the huge industry shift to mobile in 2011. It will feature conversations with GraphQL co-creators Lee Byron, Nick Schrock and Dan Schafer as well as GraphQL enthusiasts from Twitter, Airbnb and Github!
