At Grasruts we have realized that the community is bounded by something positive to hold onto when rolling out creative or vital ventures to the public, lend a helping hand during tough times or many more personal and social causes. The potential is huge if we can work together to strengthen this community. That is when we realized that the power of crowdfunding is immense. It can help make dreams come true, save someone’s life or even help someone pay for their tuition. But right now, lets’s just talk about how we, Grasruts, can be a useful tool for your Startup or SME.

Trust

It takes a long time to build a trust but only seconds to destroy it.

Like in any other crowdfunding platform, trust is an essential commodity. For your venture to reach its funding goal, you need to earn the trust of the people. But How? Be genuine while writing about your ventures in the description section. Show that your venture is genuine. Also, if it’s possible, do post a video about your venture.

Be very realistic when determining how much fund you will need, why you need it and how will the fund be utilized. There is a higher chance for the backers to back your project if you choose the All or Nothing option as your funding mode. With that mode, the backers pledge is more secure. Remember that, most of the time project owners use a crowdfunding platform as a marketing tool rather than a fundraising platform. The fundraising part is just an icing on the cake.

The backers want to know you before they fund your project so, take some time to fill out some relevant basic information about you. Add your amazing profile picture, your websites, email address and some references.

Responsive

A wise and curious backer will always try to learn more about the project before pledging the amount. S/he will ask many questions before transferring the money and it is your job to make sure s/he gets your reply. It is a nice way to network as well. The other good thing about it is that they will start giving you feedbacks and feedbacks are very important. This will not only do good for your current project but also for your future projects.

Keeping Your Promise

When you start the fundraising process, remember that you need to give back something to the backers for their contribution. Crowdfunding has been abused a lot of times for vested interests, to the point that some even consider the system nothing more than a glorious begging platform. The only way to mitigate these problems is to offer a realistic incentive to the backers, for example, something like 35% discount on the product, or pre-sale delivery of the product, etc. Those offers are called Rewards. You just can not say that you will add X as reward if the backer pledge Y amount. You need to calculate how much effect will it have on your funding amount and the most important thing to consider is whether or not if you can deliver it to them.

If you are unable to deliver what you promised, then those backers are not going to back your project again in the future. So it is better to over deliver and under promise.

Why Grasruts?
