Improved Navigation, with Search

We’ve improved the navigation on Gratipay, including adding a search feature. There are now three levels of navigation: a top level that includes links for About, Explore, and Search; a secondary level in the sidebar on the About pages; and a tertiary level that’s used on the About and Profile pages. There is also now a Feedback link on the side of every page that goes to our list of open issues on GitHub.

Our search feature looks at usernames, community names, and profile statements, and includes fuzzy matching (it’s Postgres under the hood). What’s more, you can now have profile statements in multiple languages, and we’ll search over all of them.

All users are included in search results by default. If you would like to opt out of being included in our search results, you may do so on the “Privacy” section of your Gratipay account page. If you do so, we will also instruct search engines such as Google not to index your Gratipay profile pages, by means of a meta robots tag.

Hopefully these changes make it easier for you to get around Gratipay, and to find the people and communities you’re looking for, while also giving you the tools you need to control your Gratipay experience and keep yourself safe. As always, we welcome your feedback publicly on GitHub or privately via email.

Thanks for using Gratipay! :-)
