Album:

Together Again: Bob Wills/Tommy Duncan

Released in 1960

Artist:

Bob Wills/Tommy Duncan

Why:

This comes 100% from Waylon. If you have not listened to Waylon Jenning’s song, Bob Willis is Still the King, here are a few of the lyrics:

“To hear the Texas Playboys and Tommy Duncan sing

Makes me proud to be from Texas where Bob Wills is still the King”

That made my first choice easy. I had never heard Bob Wills so I knew listening to him would be my first album. And I needed to make sure it was one that Tommy Duncan sang on. If Waylon loved them and I love Waylon I had to investigate. I am really glad that I did!

Notes:

My favorite songs were:

Take me Back to Tulsa is delightful. After doing some Googling on this song, I discovered a video of Merle Haggard covering it and playing the fiddle.

Time Changes Everyone — I really like the upbeat tempo of this and the message.

Stay a Little Longer — I didn’t realize I knew this song. I love it.

Spanish Two Step — This one makes me want to dance.

Final Verdict:

I love this album. It is upbeat and wonderful. I enjoyed the entire album. I will listen to it again and will seek out more by Bob Willis. If you are feeling down and need to feel lifted I highly recommend this one.
