How to Fill any Text with a Picture in Gravit Designer
In today’s article, you will learn how to fill the text with an image in the Gravit Designer. I will show you two methods, both of them are quick and easy.
For those who just started with Gravit, learn how to work with text on Gravit Designer Docs or watch the video below
Fill the Text with an Image using Mask with Shape
First way is masking the image with the text. Before masking we should convert the text to a path (Ctr/Cmd+Shift+P).
Unfortunately, it’ll make the text-path non-editable. This approach has its own advantages though — you should not bother including additional fonts when delivering a final design. This method is also a software agnostic — you can let your client use any vector design editor — it will look perfect in any of them.
The disadvantages are obvious — you are not allowed to change the text anymore. Your final result is stable and pridictable, but very unflexible.
Fill the Text with an Image using Texture Fill
The second method gives you much more control over the image inside the text.
First thing first, you should copy the image using Ctrl/Cmd+C. Second step is to create an extra fill for the text using Add Fill icon.
Then, navigate to the fill dropdown and select the Texture Fill.
Click Paste icon to apply the copied image to the text.
Looks familiar? The same steps we were using for our Chevron Pattern (and any other) in Gravit Designer. Check this article right now to learn a new technique at no time.
You can change the size and way how an image is distributed. It works for the text per se, so you are in charge of all text attributes as well. If you wish to change the typeface — no problem, want to use bold version — no problem, want to apply ligatures, fractions or other advanced features — no problem.
