Gravitee.io API Platform

When we started Gravitee.io three years ago (yes, already…) we had in mind to build, develop and provide to our users a completely open-source (Apache v2) API Management solution because, according to our “market analysis” (I mean, doing 2 or 3 research on Google, a real analysis from a developer who just wants to write technical code), there was no such solution providing the different products composing an API Management: the API Gateway, the Portal, the Analytics, and so on…

It was the very beginning of Gravitee.io, and at that time, we were speaking about Gravitee.io or Gravitee.io API Management only.

Even if Gravitee.io API Management was used by many and many users around the world, it was clear for us that the existing solution was missing a critical piece: the security aspect of the APIs.

That’s what one of the reasons we choose to develop and provide Gravitee.io Access Management under the same terms and license we apply for Gravitee.io API Management: a completely free, open-source solution (Apache v2), highly scalable and resilient authorization server.

Now that we have (at this time) two products, we have to distinguish them. We’re now speaking about Gravitee.io API Platform, which is providing two distinct products — API Management and Access Management — which can be used independently but can also be tightly coupled…. and give you the ability to unleash the power of your APIs.

More is coming for the end of the year, with some great features, certifications, and some other good surprises… I advise you to stay tuned.
