Burpees, Blueprint & A Steak: Week 7
Another week in the bag. Keeping strong and staying true.
Week 7
Not a lot to report this week.
I continue to refine my meal prep routine. I’ve got my veggie soup version of Bryan Johnson’s Veggie Bowl pretty well dialed-in.
For those just catching this the first time, seven weeks back, I started a modified version of Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint protocol. In a nut-shell, Blueprint calls for some pretty regimented eating, exercise and nutritional supplementation.
It’s really well documented and backed by a ton of research. He is the living guinea pig for the whole thing and his results are pretty remarkable.
One of the key components is testing. He also is a multi-millionaire, and his complete testing apparatus is well beyond my means.
I did do a baseline blood-work and TruDiagnostic aging test. Unfortunately, I didn’t do those before I started, so my baseline numbers came in about five weeks into my dietary changes.
The tests were not encouraging. But, they were beneficial, in that I took this little self-imposed challenge much more seriously.
Diet/Exercise Recap
I kept up with my burpee practice. I’ve gone over a year now without missing a single workout. This includes a period when I caught a pretty bad case of Covid.
To be sure, while I was sick, the workouts were very light compared to my usual routine. But, I was committed to keeping the practice alive.
The burpee routine I do is based on one I found at BusyDadTraining.com. It’s a free resource and is pretty cool in its simplicity.
The physiological changes I have undergone are nothing less than extraordinary. I’m 53 years old and when I started, I felt 53 years old.
Now, my mobility, my endurance and my overall conditioning are outstanding. Unfortunately, my diet was terrible through the first year, but that has changed now.
I only missed one day of my modified Veggie Bowl this week. That was due to an extended work day, but I’ve been consistent otherwise.
My modified version is more like a soup, but it contains almost everything Bryan Johnson’s Veggie Bowl and Nutty Pudding contain. The prep time is now under 10-minutes including clean-up, which makes it so much easier to stay consistent with.
I’ve eliminated all dairy and alcohol. I didn’t drink much before, but I was eating a lot of dairy. The meat intake has been reduced and I’ve been feeling pretty good.
Still haven’t gone down the recommended 88 supplements yet. I’m still waiting for the Bryan Johnson branded versions to come out. It’s just a matter of simplicity for me, because I know I won’t adhere to taking 88 supplements per day. The branded versions cut that load to under 30 pills.
I dropped a belt loop down, so that’s encouraging. I weighed myself while I was visiting my mom in January. But, I don’t own a scale, so clothing fitment is my only gauge on fat-loss, which seems to be occurring.
I’m going to go another 10-weeks before I re-test my blood and do another TruDiagnostic test. I’m really hopeful the numbers come back with much improvement.
Anyway, that’s pretty much it for this week. Until next Monday, hope you have a great week!
