The Limits of Creation

The notion that our reality might be a simulation created by a more advanced civilization has been a topic of fascination for philosophers, scientists, and science fiction enthusiasts alike. This idea, known as the Simulation Hypothesis, suggests that our existence might be a mere creation of a higher power, akin to a computer program or a video game. In this series of articles, we’ll delve into the theoretical foundations of this concept, exploring the implications of simulated reality and the potential limits of creation.

The AI Connection

The inspiration for this line of inquiry stems from our own creations: artificial intelligence (AI). As we’ve made tremendous progress in developing AI, we’ve realized the importance of imposing limits on its development to prevent it from becoming a threat to humanity. This raises an intriguing question: if we, as creators, recognize the need to impose limits on our creations, might not a more advanced civilization have done the same with us?

The parallels between AI and simulated reality are striking. Just as we create AI to serve specific purposes, a more advanced civilization might have created us as a form of artificial intelligence, with their own goals and motivations in mind. This thought experiment…
