Great Big Story and Minnie Driver launch: I Am An Immigrant
Today, Great Big Story is proud to announce the launch of a new four-part special titled I Am An Immigrant
With narration from Actress and Singer Minnie Driver, the series unpacks stories of four immigrants who overcame the odds to find success in America, while clearing a path for others to follow in their footsteps.

Driver, whose career spans dozens of roles in award winning television shows and films, carries her own unique immigration story. In the early nineties, she left her family in England to chase dreams of becoming a Hollywood actress. It wasn’t long before success rang with castings in Good Will Hunting, The Riches and Return to Zero.
Driver earned her U.S. citizenship in 2016 and has used her platform to champion immigrant rights and challenge contested political beliefs. Together, we celebrate the stories of immigrants who came to America and made a profound impact in education, arts and entertainment, culture and fashion.
Here are the four stories scheduled to run throughout the week:
- TUESDAY: Coach Luma Muffleh, founder of The Fugees Academy
- WEDNESDAY: (2) Ta’u Pupu’a, operatic tenor and Minnie Driver’s story
- THURSDAY: Hudda Ibrahim, founder of Dine and Dialogue
- FRIDAY: Lam Xie, Store Manager, Unique Hype Collection
I Am An Immigrant is part of Great Big Story’s Guest Editor program, which offers influencers a platform to share their stories and perspectives on the topics that matter.
Past Guest Editors included Actresses Zoe Saldana, Gillian Jacobs, Camilla Belle and Yvonne Orji, as well as Portland Trailblazers Guard, CJ McCollum.
