Why I Reached Out To Author Stephanie Land On Twitter
A couple of weeks ago, I connected on Twitter with a woman by the name of Stephanie Land. And her story brought tears to my eyes.
Why?
Because in 2019, I experienced my own version of her journey. In short, as a 56-year-old African-American man, I was thrust unexpectedly onto the streets of San Diego and Las Vegas in 2019 with no permanent roof over my head.
Sadly, out of shame and embarrassment, I told virtually no one about my sudden predicament. Even worse, the few who knew were nowhere to be found during the height of my struggle.
Today, life for me is back at a relative state of normalcy. And, looking back, I can now say that it was one of the best things that could have ever happened at that juncture of life.
Now about Stephanie: She is the author of a bestselling book entitled MAID: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will To Survive. As you might imagine, her book has received a great deal of attention because of a massive rise in the levels of homelessness and underemployment facing America.
