Leipzig is the largest city in the German state of Saxony, and sits at the confluence of the White Elster, Pleiße and Parthe rivers. It’s a very green city with many riverside paths, parks, and forest trails within the inner ring road that follows the old city walls. Leipzig is known for its Riparian Forests (Auwald), which are wooded areas next to a river or other body of water, as well as its numerous lakes. Our guide to running in Leipzig showcases a lot of variety in a small geographic area.
