In Greek mythology, Daphne was the daughter of a god. Daphne was the daughter of the river god Pineios. Daphne’s beauty was out of this world and she had a radiant free-spirited mind. She didn’t seem to care about anything, not even about herself. The only thing she liked to do was to run from one forest to another all day long. She seems to be accustomed to this forest life from birth. She kept her hair loose, wearing animal skins whenever she wanted. It was against her taste to have a beautiful garland around her neck or to have her hair done nicely.

When Pienius was too busy to get his daughter married as a part of his duties, handsome young men from all over the world began to come to her with marriage proposals. But Daphne returned them all one by one. Old Pineios became very downhearted and thought to himself that maybe he’ll never get to see the face of his next generation.

Daphne never found the freedom and comfort of wandering in the forest in anything else. Not in marriage at least. To her, getting married was like chaining her legs. In fact, Daphne did not feel any spark in her heart looking at any man. On the other hand, she had an unquenchable…
