Sustainable manufacturing takes into consideration the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.
Having been in the industry for 12+ years, I’ve created a framework called ‘Proactive Green System’.
It’s a circular approach that includes the involvement of many stakeholders and can be applied to multiple industries:
1. It takes time to develop an effective system & culture. Look at the long term.
2. Identify processes and people involved with the business.
3. It’s more about the people than the process, but creating a culture of excellence & sustainability has its challenges.
4. When you get buy-in from stakeholders, it will create momentum that will keep us moving forward.
5. It guides in better brand building & goal settings.
6. It helps attract & maintain talent.
7. We can create better products that set us apart from our competitors.
8. We can cultivate innovation & maintain industry leadership
9. The Malaysian market is ready to support green businesses. The products need to be well designed & competitive in pricing.
10. If managed well, waste created along the process can contribute to profitability.
