Good news can seem hard to come by when it comes to climate change — headlines invariably talk about the catastrophic consequences that rising emissions will bring.

But while the consequences of climate change are undoubtedly serious, the progress in clean energy solutions is equally as encouraging. Renewable energy is continuing to grow more popular while the costs of coal and natural gas are on the rise. New clean energy sources are moving into the mainstream. Electric vehicle adoption continues to increase as fast as production will allow, with lots of new options hitting the market next year.

1. A massive new offshore wind farm opens in the UK
