In understanding the impact of climate change. Dr. Colin gave a clear example through his research over years. Summerhayes is an oceanographer and geologist who has worked in academia, government, and industry in several countries.

According to his interview, he talked about climate differences in different areas of countries. Then he’s able to come up with his prediction by stating ”there will be increased water availability but, in the mid-latitudes and semi-arid low latitudes, water availability will decrease and drought conditions will intensify, exposing hundreds of millions of people to increased water stress”.

In order to prove what climate change has affected the water supply. He gave two examples to show the winner and loser of the situation. He stated that countries like India and Pakistan will be most beneficial from climate change because Land glaciers in the Himalayas lock up water and release it nicely. On the other hand, global warming may also cause issues such as ocean rises and sewage disposal in those coastal cities.

Furthermore, he pointed out that climate change could also damage people’s health. He’s aware of the rising frequency of disease because of air quality. For some examples such as heatwaves, droughts, and floods. Climate change provides a space for diseases to spread out.

Lastly, he stated” it will be important to plan for prevention rather than cure; to encourage improved development, good sanitation, and supplies of clean water and to move to low-carbon economies” which seems to be the solution to the negative impact of climate change.

In conclusion, a big takeaway from his interview is that climate change does have a negative impact on many aspects of people’s lives. And it’s already happened. Actions are necessary to be taken to save ourselves.
