Tyler Schrock, new full-time instructor in software development

Tell us about your new job title and what led you to apply to Green River.

TYLER: I am a Software Development Instructor, part of the larger Software Development Department at Green River. I taught similar courses at several colleges in Northeast Ohio and am excited to experience life on the West Coast! I was looking for a medium-sized school with a growing programming/software engineering department and was happy to find Green River during that search.

What excites you most about your new position?

TYLER: The courses I most enjoy are often introductory courses, where we navigate brand new topics and I get to help students connect some dots and understand how/why concepts and practices work together. These types of courses are my favorite to lead. Outside of the classroom, I am excited to to work alongside Ken Hang and the rest of the department as well as connecting with Green River students.

Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?

TYLER: When I’m not in the classroom, I’m often playing disc golf (frisbee golf). I have recently traveled to several competitive events, including professional tournaments in Phoenix, Boston and Salt Lake City.
