Meet Zahra Madhar. Zahra, who is working towards completion of her bachelor’s degree in Software Development at Green River College, is also currently interning at T-Mobile as a systems analyst. In the Q & A below, she talks about her role and the culture at T-Mobile.

First off, what led you to Green River’s Software Development program?

ZAHRA: My passion for technology and my willingness to challenge myself is what led me to Green River’s Software Development program, plus the amazing & supportive faculty 😊.

What is your job title at T-Mobile? And can you tell us a little bit about your role?

ZAHRA: My job title at T-Mobile is Systems Analyst. I am also very honored to announce that my internship was extended until my graduation. Here is a description of what my role consists of:

  • Collaborating with partner teams in identifying gaps in software applications and developing solutions to satisfy customer requirements
  • Translating end-users enhancement requests into technical requirements to the vendor
  • Identifying and developing applications optimization and scaling solutions
  • Administering and auditing role-based user access
  • Creating trainings and providing support to new and existing users
  • Troubleshooting system performance issues and publishing root cause analysis write-ups

What is the culture at T-Mobile like?

ZAHRA: The culture is beyond amazing. It is very inclusive, and it has been such a joy to show up to work every day. People are very supportive of each other and there is such a strong feeling of belonging among all employees. My dream was to get an internship at this company specifically because of its culture.

What piece of career advice do you have for college students who are looking for their first tech internship?

ZAHRA: To believe in themselves and to apply as many internships as they can. One of our instructors in the program told us once that we should adapt our resumes to the job description and that was a great piece of advice as well.
