The end of single-use plastics is possible, we just need YOU as a volunteer!

Almost every piece of plastic that has been made still exists today. That toothbrush from when you were four years old may very well be floating in the ocean, and unfortunately not a lot of corporations know the gravity of the plastic pollution problem.

You’ve given so much already as a monthly sustainer, and we wanted to give you the opportunity to become a volunteer as well. All around the world individuals are eliminating plastic from their lives, but making that choice is not always easy or accessible. We must demand companies form ethical alternatives to single-use plastic. We have the potential to fix the crises our planet is facing — but not unless everyone pitches in. It is an important, exciting, and crucial time to plug in and commit to an inclusive future that centers the voices most impacted by pollution and that future needs you.

Will you volunteer to help protect the planet, its people, and our collective future?

To ensure that everyone who wants to help do their part for the planet is able to contribute their time and skills, we put together three volunteer opportunities that you can join — no matter where you live. These groups are excitingly new. We are still experimenting and hope to grow these opportunities with you, creating wonderful, fun, and engaging volunteer communities.

• GREEN ZINE Contributors: Use your creative noodle to write or design content for GREEN ZINE, a volunteer voiced platform where you can help get the word out about the important issues while also getting to learn from others.
• Textbank Team: The future is here! You can now text folks from your couch behind your own computer. It’s an effective way to let people know about activities that are happening in their area and encourage new people to mobilize and plug into justice work!
• Social Media Hive: Our brand new social media hive will educate the public on environmental issues, create content, sustain online engagement, and provide a channel for people to get involved and raise their voices.

I’m excited for you to join Greenpeace’s volunteer community and help us build up an inclusive, supportive, diverse base of activists. Bring your thoughtfulness, willingness to learn and chip in, and your desire for a justice-centered, inclusive, and affirming environmental movement.

We’re looking for folks who are willing to put in time every week to fight for a greener and more peaceful future.
