How will green technology be like in the future?

I see two key directions:

  1. Efficient productivity
  2. Low cost in investment and management

The old energy generation methods are what we conventionally use now: first, generate electricity or heat, then convert it into specific “installation” for particular purposes. The process of generation and conversion have already caused a considerable amount of energy loss though.

The ideal energy renewal technology shall be “one-stop”, meaning direct transfer from solar energy to air conditioners, dehumidifiers, air purifiers, even food. Even if these installations are old or broken one day, they shall be 100% biodegradable, causing no pollution to the earth.

Somebody said this technology shall be a research project initiated by the extraterritorial creatives on the earth 30,000,000,000 years ago. The time it started must be too long to be comprehended by human beings, as our history of intelligence started from only 300,000 years ago, among which the era of intelligence development span only for the latest 5,000 years. Even technology advances much nowadays, we cannot thoroughly understand and make full use of the much advanced technology project kicked off 30 billion years from now, but only discovered it and named it as “photosynthesis”.

I am no prophet, and in no capacity to predict the future. As a lucky guy born in the 70s, I have witnessed the modernization, digitalization and aging of the world, as well as global warming. With observation of the changes on the Earth for more than half a century, I have also witnessed: while desolate country parks are now resided with sky-climbing trees, sea resource is about to be exhausted owing to over-fishing; while wildfire destroys every living creature, the ice at the North and South Poles melts, gradually turning the areas into a new world favoring subtropical species.Hong Kong’s natural environment has been changing as a result of human activities. While local species, endangered species, invasive species, ornamental garden plants, and genetically-modified species have gradually become “features” of our local ecology, the incapacity to study nature is now the norm of Hong Kong people. That’s the reality. Let me repeat, I am not a prophet. I can’t foretell the future of Hong Kong if the flame of changes is burning so vigorously. Snapshots of the past can serve as reference for predicting the future, perhaps.
