Every day, people from all over the world fight to ensure a green and peaceful future for our planet. From Germany to Japan, here’s a look at some of the top Greenpeace images this week:

Action at power plant Niederaussem in Germany

Shortly before the expected result of the coal commission, around 60 Greenpeace activists are demonstrating since daybreak at the lignite power plant Niederaussem near Koeln for determined climate protection. On a meadow they put a 50-meter-long symbol of a thermometer with the temperature gauge 1,5 degrees, whose mercury column is illuminated by flames. “Stop coal, protect the climate,” the environmentalists are demanding on a banner
The association Senior Women for Climate Protection, along with four individuals, filed an appeal in their climate case in the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. They demand greater ambition on climate action and protection of fundamental rights to life and health from the Swiss Government. Representing more than 1,200 Swiss women aged 64 and older, Senior Women for Climate Protection decided unanimously to bring the case to the highest court in the country after it was rejected by a lower one

Thirty-five thousand people marched for better produce and farming practices
The destroyed Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, nearly 8 years after the accident. The nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant continues. Nearly 1 million tons of highly contaminated water is contained in storage tanks on the site, increasing by over 4000 tons each month. The government, nuclear regulator and the IAEA all support discharging this water into the Pacific. However, the communities along the Fukushima coast, including fishery associations have made their opposition to any planned discharge of this contaminated water
The Greenpeace PET Free Bottle Campaign in Tokyo aims to find solutions to help reduce the use of PET bottles. The campaign proposes to install “my bottle water servers” (re-filling water stations), encouraging people to use reusable bottles and help cut down waste from PET bottles in order to move away from the mass consumption culture of single-use plastics. The campaign is encouraging the governor of Tokyo to collectively work on reducing plastic pollution in occasion of the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020
