On August 1, 2024, a significant theft occurred in northeast Charlotte when nearly $300,000 in cash was stolen from a Brink's armoured truck. The incident took place around 3:45 PM at 8204 Ikea Boulevard, prompting a swift response from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Details of the Events

According to initial investigations, the security employee was threatened at gunpoint during the robbery. The assailants not only stole the cash but also took the employee's handgun. Witnesses in the area reported seeing the aftermath of the incident in a shopping centre parking lot adjacent to the Ikea store.
