Jeppe and Marthijn (Amsterdam, January 2018)

We (Jeppe and Marthijn) have been working together for over 10 years. We started a software company while we were still studying engineering in Delft, The Netherlands. What started as a side project has since become our full-time job.

One of our strengths as a team is the experience that we obtained during these years in both designing and developing software. For the 10+ applications we worked on that are currently available in the App Store, we did everything ourselves — from Interaction Design and Graphic Design to programming and server setup.

We really love developing great software for our clients, but now that we are both graduated for over a year, we’d like to take it to the next level: building our own startup. With Green Tickets we can do that by combining our experience in full-stack software development with our dreams to contribute to a better world and, most importantly, our belief that financial success and socially and environmentally responsible behaviour are not mutually exclusive.

Jeppe Bijker MSc

BSc Industrial Design Engineering — TUDelft
MSc Design for Interaction — TUDelft

During my bachelor study Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Technology in Delft, The Netherlands, one of the most inspiring courses was named “Towards Circular Product Design”. Especially since it became painfully clear to me how different this approach was to everything I had learned in other courses. This definitely increased my interest in combining design with my belief of a shared responsibility for our planet.

With Green Tickets, I love combining the skills gained during my studies (in Service Design, Interaction Design and Sustainable Business Models) with my hobby-turned-profession of software development.

Marthijn Bontekoning MSc

BSc Aerospace Engineering — TUDelft
MSc European Wind Energy — TUDelft, NTNU

While following the European Wind Energy Master programme I got to know the sustainable energy market. It was very inspirational to see how many people work together in the energy transition. And these people come from many different fields: engineering, business, law, city planning, banks, etc. This experience, in part, lead to a great passion for sustainability and it is that same passion that drives me in creating Green Tickets.

I think that we can really have an impact with Green Tickets, as it puts a decision-making tool right where it belongs: in the hands of the traveller. With Green Tickets everyone can finally make a fair comparison between different travel modes and take control over their climate impact while traveling.
