In August 2017, it was announced that Gregory Skeete had qualified to represent the Caribbean and the Americas as a finalist in the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) Annual Awards.
He was short-listed as one of the Top 20 Global Finalists in the category of “Business, Economic, and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment” based on his achievements and contributions to society with the two companies which he founded, Life Engineer Inc. and The Pilly Pelican Company, where he uses engineering principles blended with personal development training experience with The John Maxwell Team to help adults, organisations and children reach their highest potential.
Gregory, also known as “Engineer Greg”, is the only candidate from a predominantly English-speaking country in the Western Hemisphere to qualify for the list of Top 20 Finalists and proudly represents Barbados, the Caribbean and the Americas.

Professional Bio.
Gregory Skeete is an engineering professional with industry experience in the areas of Production and Operations Management. This Founder of two companies is also an award-winning children’s book Author, Coach, Consultant, E-business Specialist and an independent, internationally certified Coach, Teacher and Speaker with the John Maxwell Team, the world’s premier coaching institute for leadership development.
In 2016, Mr. Skeete was recognized as one of the Western Hemisphere’s most promising and socially conscious young leaders, when he was selected as one of the finalists to attend President Obama’s inaugural Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Program, where he spent over five weeks working alongside the Executive Directors of a U.S. organization.
His skillset ranges from Innovation and Internet Technology to Creative Writing and Sports for Development. He believes that business can be a force for positive change and that any person or enterprise can ‘engineer’ their ideal results, if equipped with the right tools, skills, knowledge and attitudes. At Life Engineer, he coaches and empowers people and organisations to design and build their ideal personal and professional lives.
Gregory, also known to children as “Engineer Greg”, is especially passionate about youth development and has inspired thousands of children at schools across the island of Barbados via his ‘Pilly the Pelican’ brand of children’s books and educational services, as he seeks to equip these youth with the required mindset to create brighter futures for self, community and country.
Locally and internationally, Mr. Skeete continues to serve as a member of various professional and non-profit organisations. He has a love for football but also enjoys music, movies, photography and good food.

Pilly Pelican Presents 50: A National Project
Gregory Skeete, also known as “Engineer Greg” currently leads The Pilly Pelican Company.
His company is helping children to dream 50 years ahead and developing skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship and productivity before age 12, while reading books which feature tropical settings and Caribbean characters who are grossly under-represented in the global publishing industry.
They are teaming up with individuals, non-profit organisations and corporate organisations to donate 50 Barbadian-made children’s books to schools across the island to inspire creativity and entrepreneurship and help children see themselves in the stories.

Morning Barbados TV Interview
In January 2017, Gregory completed a television interview on CBC TV8 on the popular Mornin’ Barbados Talk Show.
He talked about “Pilly Pelican Presents 50”, President Obama’s YLAI 2016 and the challenges of entrepreneurship and had a wonderful discussion with the host, Mrs. Cassandra Crawford.
