Hello and welcome to the 10th edition of the Gretel Epoch, our monthly roundup of product developments, community news, and team learnings. Let’s dive in.

Gretel partners with Google 🥳 — we’re excited to announce the availability of Gretel’s platform capabilities to Vertex AI and BigQuery developers and Gretel’s launch in the Google Cloud Marketplace. You can now create synthetic versions of sensitive data from existing Google Cloud storage buckets and deliver them directly to Vertex. Sign up here for early access.

What we’re building

Synthetic images for the enterprise — we added image synthetics to our multimodal arsenal of generative AI tools, opening up many new enterprise applications. Check out this blog for more info, and generate synthetic images for free.

GDPR-compliant tabular data for the regulators — you can now automatically anonymize your data to meet GDPR and CCPA standards. Consumer data privacy concerns are at an all-time high, and even if you’re not a European company, you might want to ensure that the data you share meets global privacy standards. Try our code here, and check out our definitive guide to understanding synthetic data, privacy regulations, and risk.

Automatic generation for the people — we realize customers don’t always know which model is best for them. So we’re simplifying things. Just select a use case card from your Gretel dashboard. No more worrying about which model to choose or fine-tuning configurations; each card walks you through how to complete a task, like generating time-series data from start to finish. Here’s a look at some of the use cases you can choose:

Gretel in the wild

_synthesize 2023 video playlist 🎬 — If you missed it, this year’s _synthesize conference is now available on YouTube. Learn from ML/AI experts at NVIDIA, Unity, Google, AWS, Illumina, and more about some of the most compelling business applications for synthetic data and generative AI technology in the wild.

Startup Leaders Forum this Wednesday 👀 — Meet Gretel cofounder and CPO Alex Watson, at Google Cloud’s inaugural Startup Leaders Forum. The event is at Google’s Pier 57 in NYC this Wednesday, March 15. You can register here. Also, before the event, check out Alex’s recent interview on The Data Stack Show as a primer on what’s next for synthetic data.

What we’re reading

Womxn advancing AI research — In appreciation of International Women’s Month, we reviewed some of the most high-impact academic papers that have shaped the field of generative modeling and data privacy. Here’s a roundup of our favorites; let us know what else we should add.

Synthetic tabular data created by AI “The potential for synthetic data applications is huge in multiple domains, particularly in healthcare. It should impact medical education, biomedical data science, research and clinical trials. Like most areas related to AI, it can only get better in the future. Unlike many new technologies, this one is likely to actually save money by decreasing labeling costs and expanding clinical trial data which are expensive.” — Rob Hoyt, Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at VCU.

Synthetic data is the future of Artificial Intelligence“Synthetic data has many use-cases. One of the major ones is that synthetic data can save you millions of dollars by covering risks associated with privacy and protection of data as underlined by GDPR compliance standards.” — Moez Ali, creator of PyCaret

That’s it for this month. If you have suggestions on features, content, or events you’d like us to explore — or just want to say hello 👋 — drop us a note in the Synthetic Discord community.

Keep synthesizing.
