Look to the Future with tools

Here are some of my predictions for 2024. I like to make predictions at various focal points in a year. At the end of the year after a few weeks of reflection across the winter solstice some things become clearer. As I read many articles about what happened in the year past and what might happen in the near future It feels good to predict things. Often futurists lean towards the negative but in this set I chose the positive. Kennedy experiment I used that prompt to create a more consumable article. You’ll notice that in one of the predictions it took the prompt and took it a very much of a different direction and into a better prediction than I originally wrote about the movies.

Anyway here we go: These are 10 positive predictions that are likely. They are not Grey Swans but they are surprisingly delightful. I wrote these and then did a nice expansion and generation using Claude.AI to make them more readable. 🌈🥠

1. Some Influencers will earn $1Million on Threads (or hit a million run rate) 🧵💁

2. A best selling book with be generated by a human using AI. It will have popular acclaim. 🤖📚

The Roaring 2020s: 10 Sunny Forecasts for the Year Ahead

As we embark on 2024, there is no shortage of dread and doom scrolling about the economy, technology, and world events. But contained within the prevading shades of gray are glimpses of a brighter future ahead. Here are 10 rays of sunshine - plausible positive outcomes that could deliver societal benefits in the year ahead.

Influential Threads
A handful of savvy Gen Z creators on Threads, the recently launched short-form video app by Instagram, will hit seven figure earning potential this year. As the platform continues to gain traction and the creator economy heats up, these young media moguls will capitalize on viral fame and bankability.

AI-Generated Bestsellers
Advances in large language models like GPT-3 point to a future where AI lends a helping hand with authoring creative works. While full automation remains elusive, 2024 could see the first AI-human collaborations result in popular literary success. The themes and characters might surprise us too.

Blockbuster Biotech
Following in the footsteps of Moderna and BioNTech's breakthrough mRNA vaccines, expect more small biotech teams to deliver outsized medical breakthroughs, especially in high-profile diseases like cancer. SPAC-led investments could further fuel drug development moonshots.

Toronto’s Culinary Ascent
Canada’s largest city will continue its rise as an international dining destination, buoyed by immigration and a vibrant multicultural food scene. Strong Asian influences could especially push Toronto’s Michelin stars ahead of any US city outside the top two foodie hubs, LA and NYC.

The Magic is Back
After taking a hiatus during the pandemic, Disney is primed to draw record crowds across its theme parks this year. From stalwarts like Disney World to new frontiers like Shanghai, Mickey Mouse is poised to work his magic like never before. Nostalgia and pent-up demand will overwhelm any economic uncertainty.

Pro Picklers Take the Court
Building on pickleball's staggering growth the past half-decade, blood will smell blood in the water in 2024. Major sponsors and broadcast deals emerge as veterans from tennis, badminton and other racquet sports transition to the social media-friendly pastime now taking over public parks and recreation centers.

Holidays for Health Nuts
An emerging trend sees runners, cyclists and outdoor rec-seekers planning entire vacations around participating in famous community fitness events. New Zealand’s Round the Bays and England’s mass-participation Parkruns represent only the tip of the adventure travel iceberg when it comes to athletic sightseeing. See Parkruns.ca for a great example.

Good Drones
Regulations around commercial drone use will struggle to keep pace with innovations in 2024. But on balance, aerial robot swarms are likely to overwhelm headlines for positive impact - from fireworks-replacement to planting trees to delivering vital medical supplies in hard-to-reach areas during disasters.

Taxes From Crypto
Governments salivate over the tax revenue potential from crypto trading profits. While clampdowns are unlikely in crypto-friendly jurisdictions, expect more moves to legally define digital assets as taxable properties. Declaring Bitcoin earnings could become unavoidable for millions. Maybe a nice progressive flat tax could be in order?

Peace in the Middle East
The Abraham Accords continue bearing fruit, with economic cooperation across the Middle East expanding in tandem with normalization agreements. Though tensions still simmer in spots like Iran, 2024 could solidify the Gulf region’s stability and inter-connectedness. A “Peace Tournament" Could be created to organize and focus the best talents in sport and science in the Gulf Stats and Israel and to redistribute wealth into the rest of the Middle East.

The future remains uncertain, but pockets of progress and uplifting innovation look set to blossom across technology, healthcare, culture, economics and geopolitics. While caution is always warranted, there are sunny days ahead for those seeking rays of light. — RVT @ 2024
