Legendary director and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino is hopping on the NFT bandwagon. Tarantino announced on Tuesday that he will be auctioning off seven uncut scenes from his film “Pulp Fiction” as nonfungible tokens. In addition to the scenes, Tarantino is also providing exclusive audio commentary as well as original handwritten scripts of the film. There will be never before heard secrets reveled about the film and its creator.

The NFTs are being issued on the Secret Network, a blockchain whose main priority is privacy. Unlike other blockchains like Ethereum, where transactional and ownership data is public, the Secret Network keeps transaction and ownership data encrypted. Thus, both Tarantino’s never-before-seen content and the identity of the eventual owner will be completely protected. The famed director is leaving it up to the content’s eventual owners whether they keep it to themselves or share it with the world.

This is not the first time Hollywood has turned to using NFTs. VeVe Partners and MGM Studios will launch James Bond NFTs for “No Time to Die,” the most recent installment to the franchise and the first to feature digital collectables. Additionally, acclaimed film director David Lynch partnered with alternative rock band Interpol to release their collaborative NFTs.

Secret NFTs provide an interesting and unique way of connecting artists to fans while protecting the privacy of each party. With the growing popularity of NFTs in various forms of entertainment, one must wonder if this is going to become an increasingly more common way artists put out their work. Tarantino is a master of his craft with a large following, so it is easy to see how such nonfungible tokens will become valuable collectables.

Pulp Fiction is Tarantino’s second film, following his widely acclaimed 1992 debut “Reservoir Dogs”. It was an instant smash-hit and cultural-phenomenon, launching Tarantino to the A-list and winning awards at many major film festivals. It received seven academy award nominations and won for best original screenplay. It is widely regarded by many as one of the greatest films of all time, and its legacy and influence is as relevant today as ever.
