Greyp and the Three Zeros

We realize our supporters are probably focused at the moment on the countdown to the end of our equity investment offering’s public sale. There are just under 5 days to go — five days to participate via the Neufund platform and own a piece of Greyp alongside major shareholders such as Porsche. But we also want to speak about some other numbers — three zeros in fact. Those three digits may not add up to much in maths. But for Greyp, and our CEO Mate Rimac, they mean a whole lot. They make up our vision for the connected future of mobility. Zero ownership, zero emissions, zero accidents.

Take a moment to imagine a world like that. For sure, when you look out at the congested and contaminated streets with the sad number of road fatalities, you could be forgiven for dismissing our vision as a fantasy. But at Greyp, we like to think big. And we believe it is hugely important for our supporters to share our passion and vision. We cannot do it alone. But together we can make this three-zeros world a reality.

The motivation to create a new paradigm for a connected mobility future is obvious. It is rooted in the clear-eyed view that currently, we have got the world’s transportation all wrong.

As Mate wrote in the International Business Times: “Anytime I fly from city to city, I am saddened by the vast seas of asphalt that have gobbled up the landscape to make space to park unused cars. People spend huge chunks of their lives in traffic caused by other drivers looking for parking. Currently, cars, bikes, and other assets have a very low utilization rate — they are sitting idle and using space and resources for over 90% of the time.”

And as for vehicle accidents, 1.3 million people die on the roads worldwide each year, which is among the planet’s top ten causes of death — and almost all of these fatalities are due to human error.

Participate In The Solution

The vehicles and infrastructure will be connected, exchanging data and value without human interaction

Greyp plans to be in the vanguard of the solution. As Mate went on to say in his article, a sharing economy propelled by technology is the answer. “Fortunately, there is a way to relieve these burdens without robbing people of their independence. We can harness technology to make the vision of a participation economy a reality.”

At Greyp we are known for our award-winning electric bikes. And Mate, whose sister company Rimac Automobili builds some of the best-known electric cars, has always led us with the vision that running vehicles on electricity is the future. “I believe that the future of sustainable mobility is in the advancement of zero-emission electric vehicles as well as the adoption of a shared economy. Innovative technology, including blockchain and smart vehicles, will have a big part in this future.”

Zero Ownership — In a sharing economy, which we like to call the “participation” economy, we can achieve optimal usage of assets such as vehicles.

Zero Emission — Electricity, not fossil fuels. It’s simple. Rimac Automobili and Greyp have shown manufacturers can make world-class vehicles by diverging from the traditional petrol-based motor engines.

Zero Accidents — Greyp is a high-tech mobility company. We appreciate automation and the impact advances in this field can have on transportation safety. Let’s give high tech a bigger self-driving role to protect our lives.

We are delighted that we are not alone in our thinking. This report from Deloitte Insights agrees that connected mobility is needed for our transportation. “The arrival and increasing popularity of dynamic, smart mobility services offer promising new possibilities for making more efficient use of existing infrastructure. At a fraction of the cost of new roads, smart mobility ecosystems can help reduce gridlock, lower accident rates, improve air quality, and shrink the urban footprint required for parking.”

And Deloitte sees bikes, particularly as a key component to improving our mobility. “Bike commuting typically offers the greatest benefits in neighborhoods within the urban core.”

And Mate could not have summarized Greyp’s view better than in this video interview with Newsweek: “There will be multi-modes of transportation where you combine the scooter, the bike, the car, the subway, bus whatever to achieve your most optimal route. That’s why we also integrate what we do for the future with our bikes, with Greyp — and the whole priority on developing the platform that is based on blockchain technology — with the cars. We are trying to integrate into one system of future mobility.”
