As we announced earlier this week, Greyp will soon be launching a pathbreaking digitalized equity investment round to build a connected mobility platform. Innovation is in our DNA because we have the privilege (not to mention competitive advantage) of being led by one of Europe’s most dynamic entrepreneurs. Our Founder and CEO Mate Rimac started his first company at the age of 18 in a borrowed garage, already thinking about how to push the boundaries of the transportation industry. Now, more than a decade later, Mate is in the vanguard once again, this time taking us another step closer to the connected future while offering investors an innovative way to take ownership of the company.

He first fitted an experimental electric vehicle drivetrain to his 1984 BMW E30. His conversion was so successful that the humble, garage-built BMW gained 5 International Automobile Federation (FIA) approved Guinness World Records as the world’s fastest accelerating electric vehicle.

This early validation served to expand Mate’s vision of the possible and spur him to pursue his ambitions. Mate has always been passionate about mobility — and about sustainability. Given the central role of fossil-fuel engines in almost all vehicles over the past century, Mate’s two passions did not always seem compatible to outside observers. When Mate sought out investors willing to fund the development of a bespoke, ground-breaking electric car from scratch, many said that an electric supercar was impossible — and even undesirable.

Thankfully, Mate did not listen. In 2011 the Rimac Concept_One became the world’s first true electric supercar. With 1224 hp, and innovative all-wheel drive and torque-vectoring systems, the car produced performance figures that outshone even the most expensive contemporary hypercars. Not for the last time, Mate had validated his vision and that of his team, proving the skeptics wrong and attracting top investors and partners.

Rimac’s success is down to a combination of vision, determination, and the understanding that dreams need strong teams of skilled, dedicated people to work together to make them into a reality. In 2011, he brought together a lean group of similar-minded experts to work on the Rimac Concept_One. In 2018, this dedicated, skilled, and passionate team launched the C_Two to widespread acclaim. Today, Rimac is recognized as a trusted partner by global OEMs, enabling Mate to share hypercar technology with many applications used by ordinary people every day. Mate has secured support from major players in the mobility space, including a strategic partnership with Porsche AG concluded in June 2018 and Hyundai-Kia conglomerate’s investment announced earlier this year.

Connected Future of Mobility

But the connected future is about more than hypercars. Mate expanded his role in the mobility space when he launched Greyp Bikes, which has grown to be one of the most respected e-bike manufacturers in the world. Most recently, our newest model, the Greyp G6 Smart&Connected E-bike, has garnered praise and won a number of awards for the innovative ways it seamlessly fuses digital and analog using multiple sensors, onboard cameras, and constant Internet connection. Now, we are accelerating our growth as a technology company by building out Greyp’s wider connected mobility platform.

Because of his vision and ability to turn seemingly lofty ideas into reality, Mate has been called Europe’s Elon Musk. In the words of Top Gear, “Rimac is right on the front line of the new world. Whatever you might imagine the future of the automobile to be, Mate has already staked it out.”

With Greyp’s digitalized equity offering, he is again showing his knack for innovation once again. Through the innovative use of technology, this offering will not only be available to a few wealthy investors. Greyp is also providing retail investors the chance to become true owners of a leading privately-held mobility company for the first time anywhere. In Mate’s words, “The sustainable future is a connected future, and I want Greyp’s users to have true ownership in this community.”

The future is connected. The future is sustainable. The future is one of full participation on the part of users and customers. At Greyp, with Mate’s leadership, we have drawn together a strong, collaborative team that can turn ideas into reality. With our digitalized equity offering, we are taking the next big step into a promising future.
