Back in the Autumn of 2018 Grid’s CEO and Founder Neil Herron met with the Secretary of State Greg Clarke on a ministerial visit to the North East, where we showcased our Kerb Intelligent Kerbside Management solution at our head offices in Newcastle.

Neil Herron, Founder and CEO of Grid Smarter Cities meets the Rt Hon Greg Clark was appointed Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

An Innovate UK funded SBRI Project helped take Kerb from a proof of concept to prototype which is now attracting considerable interest both in the UK and internationally as well as securing awards in the ITS and Parking sectors.

Our Kerb Solution (www.KerbUK.com ) is offering a way for us to create cities that are less congested and as such, more efficient, cleaner and greener by simply managing the kerb space more efficiently.

We are currently taking a ‘residency’ in the reception of the BEIS office in Victoria Street, London showcasing a model of our Kerb Virtual Bays alongside a rolling video demonstration, viewable here. Our model was created by Capital Models, and demonstrates how virtual bays can change parking and loading behaviours in urban environments.

We are proud to be recognised in this residency at BEIS as part of the ongoing Industrial Strategy and as an example of the Future of Mobility Grand Challenge as well as supporting the ‘Exporting is Great’ initiative.

After our visit from the Secretary of State up in the North East, there soon followed two international Trade Missions to China in the latter part of 2018. The first was with Prince Michael of Kent to Foshan with attendance at an International Expo showcasing Kerb for the Chinese market.

Working with BEIS, the Department for International Trade and Innovate UK to showcasing our products internationally, gives us the confidence that we have the ability to make real changes to our cities across the globe with our innovative solutions, and to ‘own’ the emerging space. We have been on missions across 5 continents in the past year, and are excited to nurture the relationships we have made to ensure we continue to develop and deploy our work and the incredible innovation coming out of the UK on a global stage.
