Last night Grid Smarter Cities won the ITS UK ‘Innovative App award’ for creativity and outward thinking for our Intelligent Kerbside Management solution, ‘Kerb’.

Kerb is a patented, real-time, Intelligent Kerbside Management Solution for Cities. Kerb allows commercial vehicle operators to opt to book and pay to park/load unload on previously unavailable kerb space in high density, urban areas or to extend loading periods in time restricted locations.

Glen Davies, Transport & Logistics Director at AtoH — nominated Grid for the award and explained “I nominated Grid Smarter Cities for the ITS Award because I believe their solution has the ability to dramatically benefit urban logistics operations whilst reducing road risk, air pollution and congestion. I’m thrilled that they have won, it’s a fantastic achievement.”

On receiving the award, Neil Herron, Founder and CEO of Grid stated “It’s an honour to be recognised by ITS UK and receive validation for the Kerb Intelligent Kerbside Management solution, which we believe will help transform how deliveries are made in cities, optimising kerb space, reducing congestion and improving air quality. Thanks to all those that have helped us get to this point — we have a very exciting future ahead.”

After a successful proof of concept, the Kerb solution was awarded Innovate UK funding in 2017 for a 18 month “First of a Kind” project, with Grid Smarter Cities now deploying the Kerb solution in various boroughs across London, the UK, Ireland and Internationally throughout 2018 and 2019.

The first ITS United Kingdom Awards were made in connection with the 2006 ITS World Congress in London and every year since then, this awards program has been integral in acknowledging and valuing the importance of professional ITS expertise whilst raising awareness across all levels of government bodies and communities about the benefits and value of ITS technologies to our cities, economy, environment, transportation and everyday lives.
