Texas’ State Department of Information Resources is the official technology agency for the State of Texas

San Francisco, CA, January 16th, 2024 — GridMatrix, the leading provider of cloud-based advanced traffic analytics solutions, is thrilled to announce that the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has awarded GridMatrix a contract for its Insights Web Dashboard platform. As the official technology agency for the State of Texas, DIR offers insights and recommendations that shape Texas. DIR-eligible products must meet the highest standards for utility, security, and accessibility.

DIR’s contract award covers commercial-off-the-shelf procurement of GridMatrix’s software for all state and local government entities in Texas. Multiple jurisdictions outside the state also may procure GridMatrix’s software directly via this vehicle, including 24 states, 91 counties, and 109 cities. The contract will last for a base period of two years, with four option years of extensions.

GridMatrix is excited to partner with government entities of all sizes to help address their congestion, emissions, safety, and signal performance needs. Texas is the second-largest state by area in the United States and the largest in the continental United States. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) thus manages one of the largest road systems in the United States, with a FY2022–2023 biennial budget of $30.6 billion. TxDOT has been particularly investing in cutting traffic fatalities, and set aside $17 billion for safety improvements in its most recent 10-year plan. Texas’ safety push also includes federal and local actors, with cities like Austin and Port Arthur receiving USDOT grant funding to make local safety improvements in FY2023.

“Texas has always been at the forefront of roadway and ITS innovation,” said Nicholas D’Andre, GridMatrix’s Co-Founder and CEO. “As its population continues to grow rapidly, Texas’ transportation needs will evolve at a similar pace. We are excited to work with local and state actors in Texas, and partner agencies around the United States, to solve these transportation challenges with our analytics software.”

Texas joins Georgia as the second state to whitelist GridMatrix’s software for all state and local jurisdictions. Including partner jurisdictions of Texas DIR and other cooperative contracts, GridMatrix is now available in part or in full in 46 states.
