Good morning, fellow grievers. As you may have gathered by now, I don’t send out newsletters often. In fact, since I created Grief Book Club back in 2018, I have only sent out a single newsletter. But it’s another new year and it felt like a good time for an update. I’ll (try to) keep it brief.

January’s Featured (but unboosted) stories I hope you’ll read:

Gary Angel’s, Grief is the Last, Best Tribute We Give to Fame is an exceptionally well written review about the Netflix documentary, I’m Tim, about EDM DJ Tim Bergling. This is part essay, part review (my favorite kind of review) that explores the high price of fame and our collective grief when someone famous and adored dies.

Learning to Cook in My Thirties by Kera Hollow is a lovely, contemplative essay about how Kera is learning to cook, and nurturing her inner child in the process. Kera is a regular (and cherished) contributor to Grief Book Club who often writes about a very specific and heartbreaking type of grief — family estrangement. It’s a wonderful piece and I hope you’ll check it out.
