If you are a renter in Missoula you should be familiar with Homeword, a local program focused on using “sustainable methods to strengthen Montana communities by teaching homebuyer education and financial skill building and creating safe, healthy homes people can afford.” If you aren’t familiar with Homeword or what you can learn as a renter by working with them, head over to their website! You’ll be happy you did.

Homeword recently announced 2 new programs that positively impact Missoula renters. Both the Property Partner Program and available Risk Mitigation Funds are fantastic resources to make use of.

Property Partner Program

The Property Partner Program connects landlords and property managers with Homeword’s Landlord Liaison. When landlords and property managers have challenges with their renters, the Property Partner Program encourages connecting these renters to community resources for support. Are you a Missoula landlord or property manager? Or are you a renter interested in learning more about the Property Partner Program? Learn more here or reach out the Alex Ramsing, the Landlord Liaison.

Rent Wise Workshops

We at the ASUM Renter Center are huge fans of Rent Wise Workshops. These 2-hour workshops, offered every other week, give you the tools you need to become a successful renter. Once you become a Rent Wise graduate you have the ability to participate in the Risk Mitigation Fund Program. Have I captured your attention? Read more below!

Risk Mitigation Fund Program

This brand new Homeword program provides up to $1,000 of mitigation if a Property Partner rents to a Rent Wise graduate and there is damage or lost rent within the first year of the lease agreement. The goal of this additional support is to provide the Property Partners with additional support to their renters rather than pay for damages at the end of the lease.
