College football has been put on hold across the country as a result of COVID-19, and the University of Montana is no exception. While we greatly miss our football games (and especially our players), this year the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center and the U of M Food Pantry have partnered with Grizzly eSports and many other campus departments to creatively adapt our annual Can the Cats food & donation drive. There will still be plenty of fun ways to participate, compete, and contribute to the greater Missoula Community.

Can the Cats 2020 will kick off on Friday, November 6th.

Grizzly eSports will sponsor a series of competitive events on their streaming platform, where they will also host a fundraising portal. All money raised while streaming will go directly to the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center. Special events include an Amateur Invitational where corporate, student groups, and community members can form teams and compete in head-to-head competition over the course of two days (Nov. 7th & 8th). Register here if interested!

On Saturday, Nov. 14th, the Grizzly eSports League of Legends team will compete in an exhibition match against Montana State University’s League of Legends team to take home the Grizzly eSports Brawl of the Wild crown.

Tune into https://www.twitch.tv/grizzlyesportsum to livestream all UM eSports events during Can the Cats!

Folks wanting to make cash donations to the Missoula Food Bank can also do so at every Campus Dining location. All registers will be programmed to accept meal plan funds, flex dollars, Bear Bucks, UMoney, cash, credit and debit from anyone who wants to participate. You can also donate online at canthecats.com.

UM Greek Life will oversee a contactless food drive in the U-district on November 15th.

Additionally, donation bins will be hosted in all UM residence halls, the UC Game Room, and other locations across campus and the Missoula community from Nov. 6th-20th.

All physical food collected on-campus will be donated to the UM Food Pantry. We will need plenty of volunteers to help promote, monitor bins, and collect donations- if you would like to help, please sign up here. Keep up to date on all Can the Cat activities on Facebook at facebook.com/CantheCats/.

Fundraising and collections will end at 7:30 pm sharp on Friday, November 20th. We are excited to see what our UM community can pull off during these unconventional times!

The UM Food Pantry received over 2,000 lbs. of donations from Can the Cats last year!
