Are you looking for a local organization to donate to during the holidays? Look no further! The UM Food Pantry has a variety of neat ways you can choose from to donate. Here’s a quick breakdown:

1. Stop by with some food

2. Donate through our website

3. Check out our Amazon Registry

We were excited to receive donations of fresh produce this fall from the Watchdog Winery and faculty members at UM.

Nothing makes us jump for joy quite like seeing a fridge full of produce! Donations of fresh produce are rare, but greatly appreciated! Other awesome options for dropping off food right at the pantry are peanut butter, canned soups and vegetables, and “dorm friendly” foods that can be cooked in a microwave.

We have sent home anywhere between 214 and 1,527 pounds of food to students each month since we opened in February this year.

Donations from community members have helped us ensure that we have a wide variety of food to offer to students who shop with us. Our most needed items right now are protein (chicken, tuna, peanut butter), canned vegetables/fruit, fresh produce, and all hygiene products.

If you’ve already settled in to watch your favorite holiday movie in your coziest socks, and can’t bear the thought of leaving your house, there are still some great options for donating from the comfort of your couch!

The first online option is to head to our website where we have a DONATE button. This button links to our UM Foundation account, and is a great way to donate funds to help us purchase food, shelves, reusable bags, and more!

These shelves were bought with money donated during the Can the Cats Food Drive!

The second online option to donate to us is to check out our registry on Amazon. This is a great option to donate food or hygiene products directly to us from home! Our registry has options to donate both food and hygiene products. If you’d like to donate something that isn’t listed, feel free to send us an email and we’ll add it to the list! You can reach us at umpantry@mso.umt.edu.

You can find our registry here!

The UM Food Pantry currently relies on donations and grants to keep our doors open. This means that every dollar or can of food donated to us goes directly to feeding students at UM! Thank you so much for thinking of us this giving season, happy holidays and Go Griz!
