New MontPIRG Resource for Montana Renters
Montana renters can now take advantage of the MontPIRG Tenant Landlord Guide, available at www.mtpirg.org/renter . The Tenant Landlord Guide includes COVID-19 resources and a library of sample documents ranging from a roommate agreement to an eviction dispute letter.
So that tenants can understand their rights specific to this state, the frequently-asked-questions section does cite Montana law, but it translates that legalese into language that layfolk can understand.
MontPIRG has also collected (and continues to collect) ratings from tenants for local property management companies. You can see these reviews and leave your own by filling out the renter survey on the Landlord Reviews page. Renters with questions about their particular situations can submit them to the online renter hotline for personalized assistance.
This site is the latest step in MontPIRG’s decades-long effort to defend renter rights and ultimately help tenants stay housed and healthy.
