Congratulations on making it through a tough Fall semester. There are only 15 more weeks in the 2020–2021 school year but they will be structured differently than our normal spring semester at the University of Montana. Below are some of the major differences that we will see in this new semester.

No Spring Break.

One of the biggest changes in the spring semester is the absence of spring break. Without this weeklong break students and faculty are sure to have some fatigue come to the end of the semester. Much like the decision to not have students return after Thanksgiving the lack of a spring break will prevent and spread of COVID-19 due to students traveling. While we will mourn the loss of spring break there is a replacement method.

A Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Off

Aside from the usual Mondays, we have off during the spring semester (Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day) the University has worked in three added “Student Break” days. These will happen on Tuesday, March 4th, Thursday, March 16th, and Friday, April 2nd. While these student break days don’t make up for the restfulness of spring break we can look forward to having a couple of days off

No School in May

Without a week off of school for spring break, we will end up finishing school at the end of April. Finals will take place the week of April 26 and Commencement will take place May 1st.

We look forward to seeing the University full of students once again and hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday break!
