Thank you, housing advocates!
This fall, dozens of advocates helped nudge Montana housing policy in a positive direction. Thank you!
This fall, we told the Montana Board of Housing that mobile home residents shouldn’t become homeless when their landlord gets public money to build affordable housing.
The ASUM Renter Center, Common Good Missoula, and other partners reached out to the community through email and blog posts. Thanks to advocates like you, the Montana Board of Housing received 44 comments saying “Projects should comply with the Uniform Relocation Act (URA) or comparable standards to protect existing households.” You can see the comments in the Board of Housing’s November 2 board packet. Watch this page for minutes and meeting audio.
Speaking of the board packet, a special thanks are due to the Montana Department of Commerce staff who took dozens of comments based on a paragraph of boilerplate and edited them into one sentence that faithfully captures our request.
These comments are just one small step in one project to address our housing crisis. But it’s inspiring to see how motivated Montanans are to engage, and actions like these can build momentum toward positive changes.
