Building an audience is hard, especially when you’re just starting out. You’ll need to get a little funky and understand how best to LOPA (leverage other people’s audience) to drive traffic to your digital touch points without spending too much money.

Here are some tips to help you get thinking in the right direction:

  1. Scope out thought leaders and influencers in your niche and offer them your premium product for free in exchange for endorsements.
  2. Go beyond blogging and become a regular columnist with a blog or website that already has an audience.
  3. Host a giveaway campaign for the readers of another blog that already has an audience and is relevant to your industry.
  4. Since it’s unlikely you’ll have a lot of followers on your social media pages at the start, go hunt for relevant groups and strategically put your product or service in front of those community members for better reach.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to things you can do to LOPA — but hopefully it’s good enough to get you thinking on these lines.
