Whether you are returning to in-person teaching or are still teaching remotely, teachers around the world are working tirelessly to make sure no student gets left behind. At Grok Learning, we’ve been working on how we can continue to support you and your students as you return to this ‘new normal’. This support through to December 2020 is described below.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, we introduced several features to support remote learning that will continue to assist your in-person teaching, including:

If you haven’t tried these yet, they are worth exploring — especially working with Grok’s expert tutors to answer questions in student messaging. Teacher feedback has been fantastic so far!

The Australian Computing Academy (ACA) are continuing their free Monday afternoon (4–5pm) expert webinars to replace in-person PD workshops. The next webinar is Teaching Algorithms (15 June) and I’ll be part of Ask Me Anything with the DT curriculum authors (22 June).

I am extremely grateful to my Grok and ACA teams for their talent, passion, and dedication to helping you in these challenging times. Both teams have been inspired by your Herculean efforts to adapt your teaching to remote learning.

Free access ends on Sunday 5 July

I’m proud that we helped students and their families worldwide with free access to all Grok and ACA courses and competitions for Term 2. In Web.Comp, we currently have over 15,000 students enrolled in this free period.

As much as we would like to, we can’t keep Grok free indefinitely. Otherwise, we cannot continue to develop and support our platform and write amazing content. The free access period concludes on Sunday 5 July 2020. For Australian students, the ACA Challenges will continue to be subsidised as they were before the COVID-19 lockdown for selected year groups.

Expert tutoring extended to Sunday 30 August

During Term 2, we have hired expert tutors to provide additional support to remote students. We’ve had over 28,000 posts between tutors and students over the last few weeks, and tutors will continue to answer student questions until the end of the NCSS Challenge. Tutoring support will end on 30 August.

We hope you have enjoyed using Grok during the free access period and that these additional arrangements have reduced your load and increased engagement with your students.

Grok Subscriptions until December 31 2020

From 6 July, we will return to our subscription model. Students will need a paid subscription for access to Grok courses and competitions, such as the upcoming NCSS Challenge. This will include courses that students have started during the free-access period. Short courses are still free.

We know that school budgets are likely to be stretched, and there remains a lot of uncertainty for the remainder of 2020. We are offering a 33% discount off our regular pricing for subscriptions that will expire at the end of 2020. This applies to all schools, school students, and coding clubs worldwide. To take advantage of this offer, use the discount code GrokAssist2020 when you purchase subscriptions.

You can still choose to purchase our standard subscriptions which last for 12 months as usual. They will run until June 2021 if purchased now. As always, we are also open to discussing part-year site licences for large cohorts.

If this pricing is still infeasible, get in touch at support@groklearning.com and we’ll see what we can do. As always, the full details of our COVID-19 support are on our response page.

Thank you for your continued support of Grok Learning! Stay safe and be kind to yourselves.

Thanks,
James
